Reporting to the Group Reporting Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for effectively managing the Balance Sheet, fixed assets, Capex and audit function, by monitoring and improving business and financial processes, managing the financial health of the business, leading the team in order that the financial planning function across the organisation meets the highest level of service. Producing financial reports and developing strategies and planning for the long-term financial goals of the business. To review Balance reconciliations and following up on reconciling items in order to ensure accurate processing of transactions.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Monthly Accounting:
Maintaining financial policies and ensuring compliance thereof
Designing and implementing financial processes and data flows to ensure efficient, accurate and complete reporting
Ensuring that the Fixed Asset Register is maintained accurately, complete and updated on a timely basis
Ensuring that monthly depreciation is calculated and posted correctly
Reviewing and presenting monthly Capex reporting
Reviewing the Group consolidated balance sheet and monthly reconciliations
Ensuring that GL Recons are performed and that reconciling items are resolved on a timely basis
Reviewing general ledger entries
Ensuring income statement and balance sheet transactions are correctly accounted for and that all reconciliations are completed and signed off monthly for the Group
Annual Financial Audit:
Statutory reporting and audit preparation
Being actively involved in external audit engagements
Being responsible for the preparation of respective companies’ annual financial statements in consultation with external preparers
Appling financial modelling techniques to value goodwill and intangible assets in the Group
Performing and reviewing IFRS 9 calculations and ECL on financial assets
Performing and reviewing impairment of assets as required by IAS 36 (including assessment of impairment of right of use assets)
IFRS Accounting and Disclosure:
Providing input and technical IFRS support to the Group
Performing/reviewing complex IFRS calculations for the AFS
Performing and reviewing IFRS disclosure for AFS
Performing and reviewing accounting of corporate transactions for the Group
Performing and reviewing monthly IFRS 16 calculations and maintain IFRS 16 system on a monthly basis
Reporting and Ad hoc Responsibilities:
Compiling ad hoc reports as required from time to time
REQUIREMENTS:
Must be a CA (SA) with preferably 1-2 years post articles experience
Working knowledge of IFRS
Strong reporting and accounting experience
1-2 years retail experience advantageous
Experience in managing a team
Experience in engaging with diverse stakeholders
Computer literacy in MS Office and Excel and PowerPoint to advanced levels
System design and implementation experience would be advantageous
High degree of (current) IFRS
Reporting skills
