Purpose of the Role
The purpose of this P27 Ackermans Shop Assistant / Cashier role is to deliver an outstanding customer shopping experience through:
- Effective stock replenishment and merchandising
- Maintaining store housekeeping standards
- Accurate and efficient processing of transactions at till points
Key Responsibilities
As a Shop Assistant / Cashier at Ackermans, your daily duties will include:
- Customer Service Excellence
- Deliver friendly, professional service to all customers
- Assist shoppers in finding products and provide accurate information
- Handle customer queries and resolve complaints efficiently
- Cashier Duties
- Process cash, card, and Lay-By transactions
- Handle customer refunds and ensure accurate till balancing
- Report discrepancies or issues to the store supervisor
- Merchandising & Stock Management
- Ensure shelves are well-stocked, priced, and attractively displayed
- Monitor product availability on the sales floor
- Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing store environment
- Stay informed about promotions and new products
- Risk & Security
- Tag products according to company policies
- Participate in regular stock takes and report any losses or discrepancies
- Remain vigilant against theft or fraudulent activities, reporting suspicious behaviour to management

- Follow company policies and operational procedures at all times
Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required
To thrive in this role, candidates should possess:
- Excellent customer service skills
- Strong communication abilities (fluent in English; additional languages are a plus)
- High energy levels and a passion for delivering results
- Tenacity and motivation to achieve store goals
- Previous retail experience (advantageous but not essential)
