Gonubie Area, East London – Eastern Cape: Our client is looking for a Labour Supervisor to join the team.
Only candidates with the relevant experience will be considered.
The successful candidate would have to reside in the Gonubie area.
Transport from Gonubie is provided.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Matric
• Horticultural Degree/Diploma advantageous
• 2-5 years in a supervisor role
• Agricultural growing exposure advantageous
• Computer literate
• Time management
• Quality Systems

• Ability to speak Xhosa/Zulu (not essential)
• The ability to process and manage administration in line with specific systems and structures

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• In conjunction with the Head Grower, ensures consistent quality of work is maintained by labour
• Correctly measures labour time sheets and records wages in line with company policy and procedure
• Directs and schedules the activities of labour with the Head Grower
• Communicates and advises the Head Grower on current labour attendances and disciplinaries
• Assists with problem solving activities
• One of the designated staff sharing 24/7 on-call responsibility including assigned weekend duties for ongoing management and adjustment of crop-related climate and irrigation systems
• Ensuring adequate levels and records of stock requisites
• Provides ongoing crop work quality monitoring including observing, recording, and providing feedback.
• Ensures that monitoring of labour tasks is carried out consistently
• Completes all testing of new materials and reports on results to Head Grower
• Ensures that the facility and equipment function effectively by regularly reviews, as well as by daily physical inspection
• Responsible for forecasting crop production, in conjunction with the Head Grower
• Performs other duties as required by the Head Grower
• Maintain facilities in sound working condition and free of weeds and plastic
• Ensure farm is neat and operating as an efficient and profitable unit
